A teaser trailer has been released for “Origin,” a film directed by Ava DuVernay and inspired by Isabel Wilkerson’s novel, “Caste: The Origin of Our Discontents.” The film follows Wilkerson as she writes her groundbreaking book and embarks on a journey of self-discovery after facing personal tragedy. “Origin” is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival and is the first film by a Black American woman to compete in the festival’s history. The film stars Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Niecy Nash-Betts, Audra McDonald, Blair Underwood, and others. Neon has acquired the worldwide rights and will release the film in 2023.
