Coco Gauff’s win at the U.S. Open last week became ESPN’s most-watched-ever major women’s tennis championship, with over three million viewers. Her triumph surpassed the ratings of the men’s championship in the same year. Gauff’s win is now ESPN’s second most-viewed U.S. Open telecast, second only to Serena Williams’ last match in 2022. The U.S. Open overall was a success for the network, with both the men’s and women’s tournaments averaging 2.8 million viewers. Gauff, at 19 years old, is the youngest American to win the U.S. Open since Williams in 1999 and has broken various records throughout her career.
