Dollar General has pledged $2.5 million to support “efforts and organizations focused on healing and hope for Jacksonville” following a racially motivated shooting at one of its stores that left three people dead. The retailer plans to donate $500,000 to the First Coast Relief Fund, $1 million to nonprofits and community organizations, and $50,000 to area food banks. The company will also contribute a matching gift of up to $1 million to its Employee Assistance Foundation. Dollar General intends to completely remodel the store and reopen in late September or early October.
