The Black American Music Association is launching its inaugural Imperial Crown of Excellence Medal of Honor awards, with Alicia Keys, Grandmaster Flash, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Suzanne de Passe among the recipients. The awards ceremony, set to take place on Oct. 15 in Atlanta, will honor musicians who have impacted Black American music. Alicia Keys will receive the Ella Fitzgerald Gold Standard Award, while Grandmaster Flash will receive the Transformative Award. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will receive the Creative Impact Award, and Suzanne de Passe will receive the Suzanne de Passe Trailblazer Award. Other recipients include Robert F. Smith, Jeffrey Harleston, and the late Michael Jackson.
