A band director at Minor High School in Birmingham, Alabama, was tased and arrested after allowing his band to continue performing following a high school football game. Birmingham police officers had asked both band directors to stop playing music after the game, but Johnny Mims instructed his band to continue. Bodycam footage shows Mims repeatedly disobeying police orders and a physical altercation between Mims, officers, and school personnel. Mims was eventually tased and arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, harassment, and resisting arrest. Mims’ attorney intends to pursue legal action against the police department, calling it an abuse of power.
