In celebration of Labor Day, Marlon West offers a playlist inspired by rock musicians collaborating with Black artists. This collection, called AfroZeppelin, features Led Zeppelin’s connections with Black music-makers, although their connections were not as overt as David Bowie’s. Led Zeppelin’s sound was influenced by Delta blues, London’s swinging scene, and various cultural influences. The playlist includes songs covered or referenced by Led Zeppelin, as well as their own versions. Additionally, there are Zeppelin covers by artists such as Mary J. Blige and Lizz Wright, and classic cuts featuring Led Zeppelin samples. This playlist showcases the influence and interconnectedness of artists.
