The White House has vowed that President Joe Biden will continue to speak out against race-based hate following the recent murders at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida. Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized the need for leaders to “step up to fight back and speak out against these hateful attacks.” However, the administration declined to comment on whether new legislation is necessary to address anti-Black hate crimes. Activist Jasmine Burney-Clark called for a bill similar to the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act to address racist attacks against Black Americans. The White House is also in talks to revive President Biden’s anti-hate summit.
