Disney has suspended several first-look and overall deals, including those with Yara Shahidi and Billy Porter, as the strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA continue in Hollywood. The suspensions affect Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television, ABC Signature, FX Productions, and Disney Branded Television. Disney will pay the salaries of the suspended term deals for assistants through the end of 2023 and for development executives through the first week of October. Other studios, such as NBCUniversal and CBS Studios, have also suspended deals amid the strikes. The strikes aim to secure fair compensation and protections against artificial intelligence for writers and actors in the streaming era.
